Four U.S. players scored double figures in their opening win against China, including a 14-point, 11-assist double-double from Caitlin Clark. The 11 assists were by an American player in World Cup play. Rhyne Howard and Paige Bueckers also scored 14 points each.

Team USA previously faced off against Italy earlier this year at the World Cup qualifying tournament in Puerto Rico in March. Team USA defeated Italy 93-59 behind Kahleah Copper’s game-high 15 points, one of five Americans to score double-digits in the win on March 14.

Cecilia Zandalasini will surely be on the Americans scouting report, who plays under Team USA assistant coach Natalie Nakase on the WNBA’s Golden State Valkyries. Zandalasini leads the Italian national team in scoring in with 19 points in a 63-54 group stage opening win against Czechia.
