Vishmi Gunarathne, who impressed with important contributions during the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup and Asia Cup, is among the notable names missing from the squad. Nilakshika Silva, who produced match-winning contributions across the two tournaments, also misses out.
Chetana Vimukthi, who was recalled to Sri Lanka’s side for the Asia Cup, is another player absent from the Asian Games squad.
There is, however, room for some exciting young talent. Seventeen-year-old Chamudi Praboda, who made an impression during the Asia Cup, has been included, as has 19-year-old Rashmika Sewwandi. Sewwandi’s most recent T20I appearance came against Pakistan in August.
