Rishabh Pant, who failed to make the cut for the ODI series against West Indies, will lead Rest of India in the Irani Cup match against 2025-26 Ranji Trophy champions Jammu & Kashmir. Sarfaraz Khan has been named Pant’s deputy.
Akash Deep, who has been out of action for a lengthy period due to a lower-back stress injury, is set to feature in the Irani Cup subject to fitness. Incidentally, the last match Akash Deep played was against Jammu & Kashmir, in the Ranji Trophy in February 2026.
The squad also features Mukesh Kumar, Mukesh Choudhary and Aryan Pandey among the pacers while Anukul Roy joins the spin department alongside Manav Suthar and Saransh Jain, who both recently featured in the Test series against Sri Lanka. The Rest of India squad also features R Smaran and Ayush Doseja, the top-two run-scorers in the previous Ranji Trophy.
The J&K vs RoI match will be played from October 1-5 at the Sher-i-Kashmir stadium in Srinagar.
