The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has charged Md. Abdul Kayum Rashed and Md. Amin Khan, two former team officials in the Bangladesh Premier League, on grounds of violating the ICC’s Anti-Corruption Code. Rashed, the former owner of Chattogram Royals in BPL 2024-25, and Amin, a former team official with Durbar Rajshahi in BPL 2024-25 and then the Royals in 2025-26, were charged with multiple anti-corruption breaches on Thursday and were provisionally suspended.
A statement by the BCB confirmed that the charges were levied following investigations by the Bangladesh Cricket Board Integrity Unit (BCBIU), following allegations of “corrupt conduct, failures to disclose information relating to corrupt conduct, failures to cooperate with anti-corruption investigations, and obstruction or delay of investigations connected to” the preceding two editions of the BPL.
Earlier in May, the BCBIU slapped multiple team officials, players and franchise owners with anti-corruption violation charges, while former BCB director Muhammad Mukhlesur Rahman was among three others charged under the ICC anti-corruption code earlier this month.
It follows a series of turbulent times for the BPL, which BCB President Tamim Iqbal ruled out the possibility of hosting unless its financial issues were resolved.
The BCB stated that it wouldn’t make any further comments on the latest charges. However, both officials in question have 14 days from the receipt of the Notices of Charge to respond to the charges levied.
