Jammu & Kashmir and Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Rasikh Salam Dar, Maharashtra and Delhi Capitals’ Vicky Ostwal, and Uttar Pradesh and Kolkata Knight Riders’ Kartik Tyagi have been picked by the national selectors as unofficial members of the Japan-bound Indian contingent.
Rashik (26), Ostwal (24) and Tyagi (25) have been attached as net bowlers to the Shreyas Iyer-led side that will take part in the Asian Games and play a bilateral T20I fixture against the home side, Japan. They are believed to have left New Delhi for Tokyo on Saturday (September 19) night.
The Indian team will have a practice session on September 21 at Sano International Stadium before the bilateral fixture the next day. After that, the side will stay in Sano for a few more days before travelling to Nagoya for the Asian Games, where their first match is scheduled for September 28.
During the stay in Sano, the three additional members will be needed for the practice sessions. The main side consists of only 14 members after Nitish Kumar Reddy, who was originally included in the Asian Games squad, was withdrawn and added to the ODI side for the home series against the West Indies.
ODI squad told to assemble in Trivandrum on September 23
Meanwhile, the Indian squad for the three ODIs against West Indies, has been asked to report on September 23. The 15-member Shubman Gill-captained side will have to assemble in Trivandrum on that day. The first ODI is on September 27.
The other two ODIs are in Guwahati (September 30) and New Chandigarh (October 3) before the five-match T20I series which starts in Lucknow on October 6.
