Millions of Social Security recipients are set to receive their October benefits in the coming days as the federal government follows its regular monthly payment schedule.
Beneficiaries born between the 1st and 10th of any month are scheduled to receive payments on the second Wednesday of October, according to the Social Security Administration. Recipients with later birth dates will receive benefits later in the month.
Social Security payments are generally distributed on Wednesdays based on a recipient’s birth date. Here’s who gets paid next and what to know about the rest of October’s payment schedule.

Who gets their Social Security payment next?
Beneficiaries born between the 1st and 10th of the month are scheduled to receive their monthly Social Security benefit on Wednesday, Oct. 14, according to the SSA’s payment calendar.
When are Social Security payments sent?
Social Security benefits, which are primarily paid to retirees and older Americans, are generally issued on Wednesdays.
Under the SSA’s schedule:

Recipients born between the 1st and 10th receive benefits on the second Wednesday of the month.

Recipients born between the 11th and 20th receive benefits on the third Wednesday.

Recipients born after the 20th receive benefits on the fourth Wednesday.
People who began receiving Social Security benefits before May 1997 generally receive payments on the third day of each month, unless that date falls on a weekend or holiday.
Individuals who receive both Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) typically receive their Social Security payment on the third day of the month and their SSI payment on the first day of the month.

Recipients of Supplemental Security Income, or SSI, typically receive payments on the first business day of each month. October’s payment was issued Thursday, Oct. 1.
The remaining SSI payment dates for 2026, according to the SSA calendar, are:

Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2026 (payment for December 2026)
