TeraWulf transforms coal plant into 500 MW AI campus, ETDatacenters

TeraWulf is transforming a former coal-fired power plant site near Lake Ontario into a 500 MW artificial intelligence (AI) campus, with plans to expand to approximately 750 MW. The Lake Mariner Data facility will deliver 500 MW of gross capacity across six buildings. The deployment was accelerated by partnering with Motivair by Schneider Electric and leveraging scalable liquid-cooling infrastructure. This thermal platform supports high-density AI infrastructure and rapid deployment, shortening typical 36-month build timelines.

Cooling for AI Capacity

The cooling architecture supports future high-density AI workloads and potential expansion. Motivair ChilledDoor technology delivers up to 75 kW of cooling directly at the rack. The system integrates in-rack manifolds and in-rack coolant distribution units (CDUs). It also includes a custom water-cooled loop for direct liquid-cooled (DLC) servers. The project emphasises the importance of coordinating electrical, cooling, and IT infrastructure from Day One. This integrated approach converts megawatts into AI-ready capacity efficiently.
