The Sky Blues fought back from a 3-0 halftime deficit against the Parisians to earn a more respectable 4-2 defeat, but Enzo Maresca’s side are not exactly used to being on the losing end of matches — especially in such dominant fashion.
As such, it is expected that City will come out firing against their Greek visitors, who are massive underdogs in today’s match.
Domestically, City have been perfect through seven rounds in the Premier League, and while AEK can also boast a strong start to their own season in Greece, it’s almost certain to be a one-sided affair at the Etihad.

Manchester City vs. AEK Athens – the key men
Erling Haaland – Manchester City
Could it be anyone else?
Erling Haaland has started the season in fine fettle, scoring all four of Man City’s Champions League goals against FC Porto and PSG .
While there may be a temptation to rest the Norwegian, Maresca understands the importance of this competition and has started him from the off in both of City’s European outings thus far.

Răzvan Marin – AEK Athens
The Greek outfit will likely be starved of close-range chances against Man City, and that is why Răzvan Marin could be instrumental.
Marin offers creativity and a goal threat in midfield and already has an abundance of goal contributions this season, opening his Champions League account against LASK in Matchweek 1.
The Romanian can be deadly from set-pieces, so Maresca’s men must be cautious about drawing fouls outside the penalty area.
Manchester City vs. AEK Athens prediction
Man City will be expected to waltz to victory at the Etihad and get their Champions League campaign back on track, so it’s difficult to see anything other than a resounding home win.
Prediction: Manchester City 3-0 AEK Athens
