Charles Leclerc missed out on a clean sweep of practice for the United States Grand Prix after being one of the many to incur a track limits violation around the Circuit of the Americas.
Instead, it was Ferrari team-mate Lewis Hamilton who topped the timesheet with a lap of one minute 34.893s. Leclerc had set a lap 0.083s quicker than the seven-time F1 champion, only to run wide at Turn 9.
There was a stark difference between the two, however, as Hamilton’s time was on the soft compound, with Leclerc on the medium.
Leclerc’s lap was still good enough for third-quickest, with Max Verstappen in his Red Bull splitting the Scuderia duo, 0.168s behind Hamilton.
Championship leader Kimi Antonelli was fourth fastest in his Mercedes, three-tenths of a second adrift.
