FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson said he recently experienced “an unexpected and unusual medical emergency involving a series of unexplained neurological symptoms” and that tests have “come back positive and reassuring.”
Henderson, in a statement posted to social media on Friday, said “the cause of this remains unknown and unexplainable.”
“I will continue working closely with specialists and physical therapists to focus on my recovery, as these symptoms have affected my strength, coordination, and some of my physical functions,” Henderson said in his post. “I am committed to doing everything necessary to return to full health. My health and long-term well-being remain my foremost priorities.”
Neither Henderson nor the Patriots have specified any further details about his medical situation.
Henderson, 24, missed Sunday’s victory against the Miami Dolphins.
After the Patriots’ loss to the Bears on Oct. 22, Henderson participated in two practices before landing on the injury report with an illness designation on Oct. 29. He hasn’t practiced since.
“My wife and I are deeply grateful for family and loved ones, the New England Patriots organization, my agent, my medical team, teammates, and everyone who has offered prayers, encouragement and support,” Henderson said.
In six games this season, Henderson has totaled 203 rushing yards on 52 carries (3.9 avg.) with one touchdown, while adding five receptions for 45 yards.
A 2025 second-round draft pick out of Ohio State, he burst onto the scene as a rookie, playing in every regular-season game and amassing 911 rushing yards on 180 carries — 5.1 yards per carry — with nine touchdowns. He also had 35 receptions for 221 yards and a touchdown.
