The best high school football teams in the state are gearing up to take on their first playoff opponents this week. Two Gardner-area teams are part of that group, both fighting as the 16 seed in their divisions.
Oakmont will face top-seeded Shawsheen Valley Tech in the first round of the Div. 5 tournament, and Gardner will take on No. 1 Cohasset in D7.

Both teams have a challenge ahead, taking on defending state champs, but their hard work all season long has paid off with their playoff qualification- a major goal of both programs since the beginning of the fall.
Other Gardner-area teams will look to finish the season strong in non-playoff matchups, seeing some local competition that they don’t get to face throughout regular season.
