Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce say ‘I do’ at star-studded bash

On Taylor Swift’s third summer with Travis Kelce, they said “I do” to all the rest.

The couple were married Friday evening, Swift’s team confirmed. They tied the knot in front of a thousand friends and family members in a ceremony officiated by funnyman Adam Sandler at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

The world’s most famous pop star and the future Hall of Fame football player didn’t feature a traditional wedding party, as Swift was accompanied by her “man of honor,” brother Austin Swift, while Kelce had brother and fellow football great Jason Kelce serving as best man.

The bride and groom were dressed in looks by Christian Dior Haute Couture and wore custom Christian Louboutin. The bride sparkled in Cartier jewelry, her team said.

Celebrity guests included Jessica Chastain, the Chicks, Karlie Kloss, Camilla Cabello, Hugh Grant, Ed Sheeran. Jason Sudeikis, Ethan Hawke, Benson Boone, Dakota Johnson, Gigi Hadid, Bradley Cooper, Lena Dunham and the Haim sisters.

Friday’s nuptials marked America’s version of a royal wedding. Nearly a year earlier, they broke the internet with a collaborative Instagram post announcing their engagement after two years of dating.

The slideshow on social media showed Kelce’s backyard transformed into a lush, floral garden as the pair embraced and showed off Swift’s new ring — a large diamond set in yellow gold.

Speculation about when and how the ultra-famous couple would get married immediately took over, with the most recent round of rumors in early June that they would have the affair at Madison Square Garden on the July 4 weekend.

NBC News previously reported that a Swift-Kelce event was being held at the Garden on July 3, after The New York Times first reported details of the apparent wedding.

While it wasn’t clear whether the blowout at MSG — complete with 1,100 guests, one source told NBC News — would be the actual wedding, permits to close Manhattan streets over the July Fourth holiday weekend, along with the venue’s blocked-off schedule, were parts of a trail of clues that led many to believe the wedding would take place that weekend.

The source, who was invited to the highly anticipated event, told NBC News that all guests had to sign nondisclosure agreements upon receiving electronic invitations.

The person also said multiple performances by several artists were expected.

The love story is one now cemented in the history books of pop culture and romance.

In the first chapter, Kelce went to Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri, to see Swift perform her Eras Tour in July 2023.

He later told his brother Jason Kelce on their podcast, “New Heights,” that he tried to get backstage to gift Swift a friendship bracelet with his “number” on it, but his plan was foiled when he couldn’t get past security.

Later, Swift revealed that she was charmed by Kelce’s willingness to court her so publicly and decided to give him a chance.

“This is sort of what I’ve been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager,” she said in a guest appearance on “New Heights” shortly after her engagement to Kelce.

Swift and Kelce kept showing up for each other in the months that followed — Swift in a box with friends and family members at Kelce’s games or Kelce in the VIP tent at the Eras Tour worldwide.

The pair have recently been spotted in New York City several times and appeared at the Eastern Conference finals to cheer on Kelce’s hometown Cleveland Cavaliers when they played the New York Knicks.

Swifties — Swift’s devoted fans — rejoiced at the news of their wedding, celebrating on social media and examining whatever photos of the enchanted evening they could get their hands on.

But a number of those fans told NBC News they wouldn’t descend on New York City over the July Fourth weekend for a glimpse of whatever was happening at MSG on July 3.

“Anyone who would do that would be seen as weird and exiled out of the fandom,” said Irene Kim, a Swiftie for nearly 20 years and a co-founder of Swifties for Kamala, an organization that boosted then-Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential candidacy.

“It’s frowned upon to invade her personal space in that way,” Kim added.

Despite many years of negative media attention about Swift’s love life and songs about tragic heartbreak, she pledged allegiance to Kelce’s hands, team and vibes and officially turned her sky Opalite.
