As the Little League World Series nears, the gauntlet that is the regional tournaments continues with five games on the docket on Thursday, Aug. 13.
Three elimination games start the action that begins at 1 p.m. ET with Wisconsin taking on Missouri in a Midwest Region elimination game. That’s followed by Delaware vs. Washington, D.C. in Mid-Atlantic Region play and Montana battling Utah for the last spot in the Mountain Region final.
Then the night concludes with two championship games, with the winners moving on to next week’s Little League World Series.
Maine vs. Massachusetts will provide the New England Region Champion to next week’s tournament, followed by the Northwest title game between Washington and Idaho.

Montana wins, Utah is eliminated
Finn Faaborg comes on and gets the final two outs as Montana overwhelms Utah by scoring nine runs in the final two innings to keep its season alive. Montana will play Nevada for the Mountain Region Championship, and of course for a trip to Williamsport, on Friday, Aug. 14 at 5 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Montana furthers lead in 5th inning
Montana is pulling away. They loaded the bases again and a player hit the ball into right field. The defender dove to catch it, but it bounced to the grass and a runner scored, making the game 4-1.
Another player got a hit, sending the ball dribbling past the pitcher and into centerfield. It sent a runner home and then the defender made a bad pass to the catcher, allowing another run. The score is 6-1.

Utah answers with an early double that puts runners on second and third. The next batter hit a groundout that send a run home and makes the score 7-2.
A sacrifice fly scored another runner and cleared the bases. The game is 7-3.

Montana takes lead in 4th inning
Montana is steadily getting runners on base. In the fourth, they had an early walk and single. They then had a hit that sent two runs home to give them the 3-1 lead.
They loaded the bases again, but the final out was a pop fly.
Utah had a single and put a few runners on base, but weren’t able to answer.
Montana – Utah have quiet 3rd inning
Montana got a runner to second base and Utah had a walk in the third inning, but otherwise the defense for both teams is holding strong.
The score is tied 1-1 after three.
Utah answers in 2nd inning
Utah tied the score with a single in the bottom of the second inning. The batter sent the ball skittering into right field and sent his teammate home. The game is tied 1-1.
Then, Montana’s centerfielder made a diving catch with the bases loaded to prevent anyone else from scoring.

Montana loaded the bases and Utah’s pitcher threw a wild pitch, allowing the runner at third to scramble home. Montana is up 1-0 at the top of the second inning.
