A 3-year-old boy is safe today thanks to the fast actions of police officers who responded to an emergency call on Aug. 5 after the child began choking and struggled to breathe.
According to authorities, the boy’s mother called 911 when she realized her son was in distress and unable to breathe properly. Officers were dispatched immediately and arrived within minutes.
The first officer on the scene quickly assessed the situation and used a LifeVac device, a portable airway clearance tool designed to remove objects from a blocked airway. The device successfully dislodged the obstruction, allowing the child to breathe again.
A second officer arrived shortly afterward and conducted an additional assessment, confirming that no other objects remained lodged in the boy’s throat.
The child was transported to a hospital for further evaluation, where he continued to recover under medical supervision.
Body camera footage captured an emotional moment at the hospital as the grateful mother thanked the officers for their lifesaving efforts.
“Thank you to you, officer,” she said while holding her son. “I felt my son was dying on me.”
The incident highlights the importance of rapid emergency response and the value of lifesaving equipment and training that can make a critical difference in emergencies involving young children.
