A heat advisory is in effect across all of South Florida today, with widespread major heat risk expected for “all urban areas” — heat indices above 100 degrees will persist into the weekend.
That’s according to the National Weather Service office Miami. Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties are all under today’s advisory, which will last from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Aug. 14.
Maximum heat indices will range from 105 to 110 degrees each afternoon “through at least the end of the weekend” in South Florida.

Predicted high temperatures in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, according to the NWS
Miami: A high near 90, heat index values as high as 106.
Fort Lauderdale: A high near 92, heat index values as high as 105.
West Palm Beach: A high near 88, heat index values as high as 101.
