In June, the countries agreed on a temporary ceasefire – a so-called letter of intent – the aim of which was to use the truce to negotiate a more permanent agreement.
He also said he did not believe that Iran was prepared to enter into “the sort of agreement that I consider necessary”.
Meanwhile, Jared Kushner has stated that talks between the United States and various sections of the Iranian government are probably more intense than ever, but the two sides have not yet reached an agreement.
Kushner, who is currently on a visit to the Middle East, made these comments in an interview with Fox News.
Although the ceasefire came into force in June, both the United States and Iran have carried out several attacks during this period.
