Trump: The US does not want to extend the ceasefire with Iran

President Donald Trump states that the United States of America does not intend to extend the ceasefire with Iran, according to Reuters.

In June, the countries agreed on a temporary ceasefire – a so-called letter of intent – the aim of which was to use the truce to negotiate a more permanent agreement.

He also said he did not believe that Iran was prepared to enter into “the sort of agreement that I consider necessary”.

Meanwhile, Jared Kushner has stated that talks between the United States and various sections of the Iranian government are probably more intense than ever, but the two sides have not yet reached an agreement.

Kushner, who is currently on a visit to the Middle East, made these comments in an interview with Fox News.

Although the ceasefire came into force in June, both the United States and Iran have carried out several attacks during this period.

Israel halts exports of defence equipment to Qatar

Israel is halting all exports of defence equipment to Qatar, which the Jewish state regards as “a hostile state acting against Israel”. This was reported by the broadcaster Channel 12.

According to reports, whilst exports were previously approved by the Prime Minister and the Foreign Office body responsible for authorising defence exports, a decision has now been taken to halt all future sales.

The broadcaster also reported that Israel will suspend all maintenance and support activities relating to supplies made in the past.
