The Andhra Pradesh government has approved a proposal by AM AI Factory Pvt Ltd to establish a 512 megawatt green integrated artificial intelligence data centre in Visakhapatnam district, involving an investment of more than Rs 31,387 crore.
The facility will be developed at Amanam village in Bheemunipatnam mandal and is expected to create employment for up to 1,000 people, state IT Secretary Bhaskar Katamneni said in a government order issued on Saturday.
The project is to be completed within two years and four months, according to the order.
“The government, after careful examination… hereby accords approval to AM AI Factory (Vizag) Pvt Ltd for the establishment of a 512 MW Green Integrated AI Data Centre Facility,” Katamneni said in the order.
The project is part of Andhra Pradesh’s efforts to build out infrastructure for artificial intelligence and high-performance computing, with the proposed facility combining data centre capacity with green power infrastructure.
As part of the non-fiscal support, the state government will facilitate power infrastructure for the project and ensure water supply, among other requirements, the order said.
AM AI Factory will also be eligible for fiscal incentives, including exemptions from stamp duty and electricity duty, under the state’s provisions for the project.
The proposed investment of more than Rs 31,387 crore makes the facility one of the larger planned AI-focused data centre projects in the state, as Andhra Pradesh seeks to attract investments in digital infrastructure and emerging technologies.
The government order did not provide details on the project’s proposed computing capacity, technology partners or the source of financing for the investment.
