Chocolate and mint is a classic flavor combination, but it can be surprisingly polarizing. I’ve always been a fan, but I still remember my college roommate telling me that it makes her think of toothpaste with chocolate in it. While I don’t agree, I must admit “touché” to that comparison.
If you’re on team MCC (mint chocolate chip), then you’re going to love M&M’s newest launch. The candy brand just dropped a Mint Crunchy Cookie flavor that’s exclusive to Walmart. I got to try a bag before it hits shelves in September, and here’s my honest review.
What You Should Know About the New M&M’s Mint Crunchy Cookie Flavor
M&M’S new Mint Crunchy Cookie flavor will be available exclusively at Walmart (both in stores and online) starting in September 2026. The brand says that the flavor is “a refreshing twist on a baked goods-inspired treat that brings a satisfying crunch to the lineup.” This description had me thinking they were alluding to the flavors of a classic Thin Mint Girl Scout cookie, which I later discovered was the biggest comparison people made in the office. They also said that it is inspired by the highly successful launch of the M&M’S Crunchy Cookie back in 2022.
The new M&M’s flavor features a crunchy cookie center that’s wrapped in a refreshing mint and milk chocolate coating. While the new flavor is hitting Walmart shelves in September, it is a limited-time release. So make sure to grab a bag while you can!
My Honest Review of the New M&M’s Mint Crunchy Cookie Flavor
I knew I was going to love these M&M’s, but they were honestly even better than I was expecting. What really surprised me was how much I enjoyed the crunchy cookie center. I like my M&M’s to have a little crunch, which is why I prefer peanut ones to the classics. But this crunch was different; it was crispy rather than a hard crunch. It wasn’t so hard that you’d worry about your molars, but it made every bite even more satisfying. And the crisp chocolate coating added even more fun texture to the treat. Studio Producer Maya Borrero also loved the texture of these M&M’s — specifically, the cookie center. She said that it was airy but still crunchy, and she thought the ratio of cookie center to chocolate coating was perfect.
The mint flavor of the new M&M is strong. I personally love that, but if you’re in the “mint tastes like toothpaste” camp, this definitely is not the candy for you. I had a few people in the office taste the new flavor as well, and they were fans. Assistant Culinary Producer Topher Leo said the flavor was so good, and he loved how crunchy the center is. “They remind me of Thin Mints when you eat them straight out of the freezer,” he says. IYKYK. Most of the office agreed with the comparison to the popular Girl Scout cookie. And Mara Weinraub, our director of groceries and shopping, said they also reminded her of Andes chocolate mints. If you’re a fan of either, you’ll likely enjoy this new M&M’s flavor.
