HYDERABAD: Artificial intelligence-based technology should remain the foremost priority in crime prevention and policing, particularly as the nature of crime is rapidly evolving, DGP C.V. Anand said on Saturday. Telangana must continue to lead in policing by ensuring effective implementation and regular updating of the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) and the Interoperable Criminal Justice System (ICJS), he said at a meeting organised at ICCC.
A combination of technology in policing, data-based crime analysis, professional training and rational deployment of manpower will make the state police more efficient and responsive, Anand said at a meeting with senior officials Mahesh Bhagwat, Sowmya Mishra, Abhilasha Bisht, Cyber Security Bureau director Shikha Goel, Charu Sinha, EAGLE Froce director Sandeep Shandilya, police commissioners and district superintendents of police.
Anand directed officers to continuously monitor and update digital policing systems and make greater use of available applications. Effective use of CCTNS and other technology-enabled systems was reviewed, including NCL implementation, e-Sakshya, e-Forensic and ICJS integration, Telangana’s performance on national portals and areas requiring focused improvement, he said.
The DGP directed heads to pay greater attention to court case management and ensure strict compliance with the process. Regular training in investigation, court procedures and legal aspects should be made integral to police functioning, he said. He asked district and city training centres, police training colleges, battalions and the Police Academy to ensure training programmes remained effective and responsive to emerging policing challenges.
Later, Anand felicitated police officers and personnel who excelled in implementation of crime parameters at the state level. Hyderabad emerged as the top performer in Cluster-I, Ramagundam in Cluster-II, Nalgonda in Cluster-III and Suryapet in Cluster-IV. Certificates of appreciation were presented to the respective teams.
