The proposed 150 MW facility in Bodh Gaya forms part of CtrlS’ expansion plans, which include over 20 edge data centres across India’s Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.

CtrlS Datacenters has signed a letter of intent (LoI) with the Bihar government to invest ₹10,000 crore in a proposed 150 MW hyperscale AI factory in Bodh Gaya, while inaugurating a ₹400 crore data centre in Patna with an initial IT load capacity of 12 MW.
The two developments expand the company’s planned infrastructure footprint in Bihar as demand for AI computing, cloud services and data centre capacity grows.
The Patna facility will serve enterprises, government institutions, hyperscalers and technology businesses across Bihar and eastern India.
The scale of the planned investment signals a potential expansion of AI and cloud infrastructure options in eastern India for customers and technology partners. The extent of the opportunity will depend on when the proposed capacity comes online, how it is equipped and which customers and service providers use it.
The proposed Bodh Gaya facility represents a separate, larger investment. CtrlS has not disclosed a construction or commissioning timeline for the project, and the LoI does not establish when the planned capacity will become operational.
CtrlS Datacenters’ founder and CEO Sridhar Pinnapureddy said the investments would strengthen Bihar’s digital infrastructure and support the development of its IT ecosystem. He also credited the state government’s policy environment and incentives with supporting the company’s investment plans.
Located in Patliputra Industrial Area, the new Patna data centre currently provides 12 MW of IT load capacity, with scope for expansion based on demand.
CtrlS said the facility would “support the infrastructure requirements of enterprises, government institutions, hyperscalers and technology businesses”.
It is intended to provide additional data centre capacity for customers in Bihar and the wider eastern India region.
The second announcement on the development describes the facility as designed for disaster resilience and energy efficiency, with military-grade security. CtrlS has not provided further technical specifications in the information available.
The expansion adds to the region’s available data centre infrastructure for IT service providers and systems integrators serving customers in eastern India. However, CtrlS has not announced specific channel partnerships, reseller arrangements or partner programmes linked to either Bihar project.
CtrlS plans more than 20 edge data centres
The Bihar developments form part of CtrlS’ broader expansion plans. The company intends to establish more than 20 edge data centres across Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, bringing computing capacity closer to emerging demand centres and supporting services that require low latency.
CtrlS, which began operations in 2007, says it operates 19 data centres across nine markets in India and plans to build more than 4.4 GW of data centre capacity by 2030.
The company has not provided a detailed rollout schedule for the planned edge facilities or specified how much of its 2030 capacity target is operational, under construction or still in the planning stage.
The proposed 150 MW AI factory in Bodh Gaya would add to these ambitions, although its development timeline, power arrangements, customer commitments and implementation milestones remain undisclosed.
