Bank Holiday Next Week: As we approach the second week of September 2026, bank customers should take note of the upcoming holidays and plan their branch visits accordingly. The bank holidays from September 7 to September 13 include regional holidays along with regular weekly holidays.

When are banks closed from September 7 to September 13, 2026?
While digital banking services such as internet banking, mobile banking, UPI and ATM services will continue to remain available, physical bank branches of SBI, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and other lenders will remain closed on the applicable dates and in the applicable cities.
September 11 (Friday): Banks in Jaipur will remain closed on account of elections in the jurisdiction of Jaipur Municipal Corporation.
September 12 (Saturday): Banks in Guwahati will remain closed on account of the Tirubhav Tithi of Srimanta Sankardeva. The date also falls on the second Saturday of the month, when bank branches across India are generally closed.
The Tirubhav Tithi of Srimanta Sankardeva is a regional public holiday observed in Assam to commemorate the death anniversary of Srimanta Sankardeva, the influential Assamese saint-scholar, poet and social-religious reformer.
Sankardeva founded the Ekasarana Dharma and played a major role in shaping Assam’s spiritual, literary and artistic traditions. The occasion is marked through devotional music such as Borgeets, prayers and naam kirtan, as well as theatrical performances known as Bhaona at local sattras.
September 13 (Sunday): Banks across India will remain closed for the regular weekly Sunday holiday.
Banks to remain open on September 7, 8, 9 and 10
Except for the regional closure in Jaipur on September 11, the holiday in Guwahati on September 12 and the nationwide Sunday holiday on September 13, banks are expected to remain open on September 7 (Monday), September 8 (Tuesday), September 9 (Wednesday) and September 10 (Thursday) across most parts of the country.
However, bank customers should check with their respective branch before visiting, as bank holidays can vary depending on the state and city.
Are banks open today on September 5, 2026?
Yes, banks are supposed to stay open on September 5, 2026, because September 5 is the first Saturday of the month. Second and fourth Saturdays are non-working days for banks, but the first, third and fifth Saturdays are working days for banks.

Processing Transactions: Transactions in digital form can be processed even on bank holidays. The processing time differs according to the nature of the transaction and the mode of banking.
Branch Limitations: Physical branch services will not be available in cities observing a bank holiday. Customers who need services that require a branch visit, such as certain cash, cheque or documentation-related work, should plan their visit for a working day.
