Florida Star Jadan Baugh Gets First-Round Draft Prediction From ESPN

The Florida Gators come into the new college football season ready to prove themselves under head coach Jon Sumrall.

After multiple years of losing, the Gators are looking to break through in 2026, even if they aren’t seen by many as true title contenders. But Florida does have some talented players on the roster, with running back Jadan Baugh being one of the main pieces.

The running back rushed for 1,170 yards and eight touchdowns last season, breaking out for the Gators. But the junior could be in line for an even better season, with Florida needing him to step up under Sumrall.

Baugh is going to be a central piece to the Gators’ offense this year, and Sumrall has done well with running backs in recent years. This could see Baugh not only put together a strong season, but also make a name for himself in the NFL circles.

In fact, ESPN Draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. is predicting that Baugh is going to be the first running back taken off the board in the upcoming 2027 NFL Draft.

“But I’m projecting Baugh to be the first running back off the board — in the middle part of Round 1. The Florida standout has averaged 5.2 yards per carry over two seasons in Gainesville, and he totaled 1,170 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground last season. But the 6-foot-1, 225-pounder also makes plays out of the backfield as a pass catcher, with 33 receptions for 210 yards and two more scores in 2025,” Kiper wrote.

This is very high praise from Kiper, but it shows just how special Baugh can be as a player. Florida is excited to see what he can do this year, and the strides that he takes to get even better.

Baugh is going to be a main piece of what the Gators do this year, and it could help them surprise some in the SEC. The running back moves well in space, and he can do it all on the field.

There are a ton of really strong running backs around the country, but Baugh has been making a name for himself. If he can help Florida be a sleeper team this year, Baugh could generate some first-round buzz next draft season.

The Gators will open the Sumrall era against Florida Atlantic at home, giving themselves a chance to start the year off on a high note.
