Shadab Khan’s all-round star turn brought an end to Guyana Amazon Warriors’ six-game winning streak in CPL 2026. Antigua and Barbuda Falcons posted 182/5 and then defended it comfortably to go top of the points table. Both teams, however, have already qualified for the knockouts.
Shadab’s efforts first came in the death overs with the bat. He walked in at 120/4 in 16.3 overs and propelled the team to 182 by relentlessly swinging for the fences. His nine-ball 30* included a sequence of 6 6 6 4 in the final over from Romario Shepherd that cost the bowling side 26 runs. The Falcons started well through Karima Gore and Evin Lewis but lost both the openers by the eighth over.
Hasan Nawaz, who top-scored for the side with 36, partnered Amir Jangoo in a 47-run stand that saw the Falcons go past the 100-run mark in 14 overs. This stand was broken just as the team headed into the death overs, but brought a shift in gears through Shadab. Around him, Moeen Ali tonked a couple of sixes for a 12-ball 18 while Fabian Allen got one too in a seven-ball 11.
Courtesy of Shadab’s pyrotechnics, Falcons added 72 off the last 30 balls to give their bowlers a big total to work with. As it turned out, it was big enough to secure a thumping win. Shadab was once again in the limelight, this time returning frugal figures of 2-19, with 13 dots in the spell. Warriors were blown out of the water with a combined bowling effort that also saw Alzarri Joseph pick four wickets.
Opener Mavendra Dindyal’s 13-ball 25 in the Powerplay ended up being the best batting effort in chase. Warriors lost four wickets inside the Powerplay, including that of Shimron Hetmyer. Warriors maintained a scoring rate of 10 an over in the middle but crashed and burned their way to 100/8 in 10 overs. By the 15th, the innings was wrapped up for a meagre 117. Sufyan Moqim, a left-arm wrist spinner from Pakistan, bagged two wickets for 18 runs in three overs while medium pacer Joshua James picked 2-11, including the final wicket that gave the Falcons a big win.
