This remains the biggest question surrounding every aspect of today’s announcement. While the Australian Cricketers Association (ACA) are adamant that nothing goes ahead, including the sale of the Renegades, without the players’ representative body being in agreement with all the terms. There’s belief within CA that they don’t have to wait for the green light from the ACA to pursue their plans. Tuesday’s announcement outside the SCG did happen with four of the biggest names in modern Australian cricket, Pat Cummins, Ellyse Perry, Sophie Molineux and Travis Head present. But while the big-name players seem very much on board with the idea of private investment into the BBL, there isn’t a consensus between them and players across the board at every level of professional cricket in the country.
