19-Year-Old Pedestrian Injured After Being Run Over by Dump Trailer in Redding

A 19-year-old pedestrian injured after being run over by dump trailer in Redding on Wednesday afternoon, September 13, 2026, according to initial emergency reports. The vehicle-versus-pedestrian incident was reported at approximately 4:35 p.m. in the area of East Street and Tehama Street.

Pedestrian Reportedly Walks Between Pickup and Trailer

According to initial information from the scene, a pickup truck towing a dump trailer was stopped when the pedestrian reportedly walked between the truck and trailer.

The vehicle then began moving, and the man was reportedly struck by the trailer, pulled underneath it, and run over in the pelvic area.

Initial reports indicated that the pedestrian had been in the roadway before the collision and was reportedly preventing vehicles from passing.

Pedestrian Freed From Underneath Trailer

Emergency personnel initially received reports that the pedestrian was trapped underneath the dump trailer.

Shortly afterward, dispatchers advised the Redding Police Department that the man had been freed from underneath the trailer and was breathing.

Medical personnel evaluated the 19-year-old at the scene. He reportedly suffered significant abrasions around his pelvic area and left leg but did not complain of pain at the time of the initial assessment.

No obvious fractures or head injuries were reported during the preliminary evaluation. As a precaution, medical personnel placed the man in a cervical collar.

19-Year-Old Transported to Mercy Medical Center

The injured pedestrian was transported to Mercy Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment.

Emergency personnel reported that the man was behaving somewhat erratically, and possible substance use was mentioned in initial communications. However, it was not immediately known whether impairment was confirmed or played any role in the incident.

Additional information regarding his condition was not immediately available.

Redding Pedestrian Accident Under Investigation

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.

Authorities may examine witness statements, the movement and position of the pickup and trailer, roadway evidence, and other available information to determine exactly how the pedestrian came to be underneath the dump trailer.

Pedestrian Safety Around Trucks and Trailers

Pickup trucks towing dump trailers and other large trailers can have substantial blind spots. Pedestrians should avoid walking between a towing vehicle and its trailer or standing close to a large vehicle where the driver may have difficulty seeing them.

Drivers towing trailers should also carefully check their surroundings before beginning to move, particularly in areas where pedestrians may be nearby.
