Will Sutherland: [How was it batting out there with your partner during that crucial partnership] Yeah, full credit to him, it was an unbelievable innings. He made it easy for me and took a lot of pressure off early as well. It was a lot of fun batting with him, and we were able to get a good score on the board in the end. [How simple was the game plan when you came into bat with the team in trouble after losing early wickets] Given the trouble we were in losing five wickets early, it was pretty simple. We just had to bat as much time as possible and probably keep the ball on the ground. [Tell us about the partnership with McSweeney and how you paced the innings] It was nice to bat with McSweeney, we just focused on running hard between the wickets for an hour. Once we built that platform, we were able to play a few more shots a bit later on. [Did you feel 275 was enough to defend on this surface] Probably not, to be honest! But with our bowling attack and coming out with high energy, early wickets were always going to be the key. We executed that nicely, and it was an obvious great effort from the boys to get the win. [The short-pitched deliveries and pace really rattled the opposition. How impressed were you with the bowling unit] We were really happy with how the bowlers executed, especially at the death. We’ve got a great attack here with high ball speed, which was exciting to watch. Mahli [Beardman] set the tone beautifully, I think he was touching mid-140s today. He bowled exceptionally well, the other boys supported him beautifully, and some of our spinners bowled really well too. [It must feel great to kick off the series with such a strong performance] Yeah, it’s very good. I’m really happy with the result and how the team stepped up.
