In a bid to help children with disabilities, Rewin Health, a Chennai-based digital therapeutics company, launched JADHU, an Al-powered daily lifeskills platform in Chennai on Wednesday.
The platform aims to help disabled children, teens and adults build the everyday skills needed to participate independently in daily life.
According to a release, JADHU combines Al-personalised daily programming, virtual reality based real-world practice environments and real-time physiological monitoring to build everyday skills required to participate independently in daily life.
“JADHU exists because too many families in Tamil Nadu are told to wait – for a diagnosis, for a therapy slot, for a professional to have the time to see their child,” said Vijay Karunakaran, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Rewin Health. Referencing a study conducted by them, he said that 83% of parents say what their child learns in therapy does not carry into daily life, and that 72% of families are not in structured therapy at all. “JADHU puts 60 minutes of guided, personalised practice into the home every day, in situations where independence is actually needed, and gives the therapist objective data on what happened in between,” he said.
It is designed for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), and other learning differences.
The platform provides a personalised daily programme where after an initial assessment, JADHU generates a new session every morning, two 30-minute blocks a day. It also provides the person with everyday scenarios such as grocery shopping, travelling on a bus to rehearse.
Further, daily practice runs can be done on a smartphone or tablet with interactive scenarios or in a JADHU Viewer for a 360-degree environment, and fully immersive sessions on a Meta Quest headset.
“There is also a lightweight wearable sensor that tracks physiological signals in real time to detect rising anxiety. When stress peaks, JADHU paces the session down and guides the learner through calming and breathing strategies,” the release said. Welfare of the Differently-Abled Department Secretary S. Madumathi also took part in the event.
