Lucknow: Artificial Intelligence (AI) should be increasingly integrated into journalism, but publishing unverified information can undermine the credibility of the profession, Director of Information and Public Relations Vishal Singh said on Saturday. He emphasized that in the age of social media and AI, verifying the authenticity of news has become one of the biggest responsibilities of journalists.Addressing a seminar on “Journalistic Understanding Among Journalists”, organized by the Uttar Pradesh unit of the National Union of Journalists (India) in collaboration with the Information Department, Singh expressed concern over the spread of misinformation through social media and the misuse of AI. Citing incidents of protests and looting in European countries, he said content circulated on social media can significantly influence public opinion. Journalists, therefore, must verify facts before disseminating any information, he added.
