West 49, Fremont 0

Top-seeded West (12-0) dominated No. 8 Fremont (7-5) with a 49-0 victory in the 5A quarterfinals, maintaining their perfect record. Star quarterback Kamden Lopati added a 20-yard rushing touchdown and later connected with Monson Vaenuku and Dovani Dixon for touchdown passes. Fremont’s offense, led by Calvin Cooper, was unable to penetrate West’s top-ranked defense, which also scored through Dieter Lotulelei’s 15-yard fumble recovery.

Bountiful 23, Springville 17

No. 4 Bountiful (9-2) edged out No. 5 Springville (8-3) with a 23-17 victory in the 5A quarterfinals. Bountiful secured the win with Manu Tia’s 2-yard touchdown run with 10:02 remaining in the fourth quarter, giving the Redhawks a late 23-14 lead. The Redhawks’ defense, which hadn’t allowed a point over the past three games, clinched the win by holding Springville to a late field goal with 3:31 left. Hudson Malmrose contributed with two touchdown passes, including one to Easton Lowe in the third quarter. Springville’s Siaosi “Leka” Toki caught a 32-yard touchdown from Beckett Burton, but the Red Devils couldn’t overcome Bountiful’s strong defensive effort, marking Bountiful’s ninth consecutive win and a spot in the 5A semifinals.

Despite trailing 13-0 after two Ben Lyman field goals and a Corbin Robbins touchdown run, Orem responded with a 40-yard touchdown pass from Tanner Lewis to Brooks Ross with just 54 seconds left in the first half. Lewis, who has thrown 20 touchdowns this season with just one interception, continued his impressive play, throwing two more touchdown passes in the second half to Major Stokes and Po Faumui. Orem sealed the victory with a 14-yard interception return for a touchdown by Aoi Faumui in the final minutes. The Tigers, who’ve been averaging over 35 points per game, relied on their potent offense and opportunistic defense to secure their eighth consecutive win.
