Pakistan’s Under-19 cricketers produced a moment to forget in their ACC U19 Men’s Asia Cup 2026 clash against India in Oman today. They turned what should have been a straightforward catch into a hilarious comedy of errors.
The incident unfolded when Mohammad Sayyam got Kavya Prasad Patel to charge down the track to attempt a aerial shot during the 45th over of India U19 innings.
The batter managed only a high top-edge, sending the ball soaring into the air and presenting Pakistan with a golden opportunity to pick up a wicket and put an end to the innings.
However, what followed was something that Pakistan senior team often gets trolled for on social media.
Sayyam initially attempted to take the catch himself. At the same time, wicketkeeper Hamza Zahoor and another fielder also came charging towards the ball.
Having realised the others approaching, the bowler hesitated.

Three Pakistan players were converging on the same ball and all three backed away, leaving the ball to drop safely onto the ground as Patel survived a dismissal that seemed almost certain.
An animated Sayyam immediately turned on his fielder who had come in to take the ball, appearing furious at the confusion. The blame game was well and truly underway.
The dropped chance came during an otherwise impressive bowling performance from Pakistan, who bowled India out for 208 in 46.3 overs. Arjun Rajput led India’s fightback with a superb 107 off 85 deliveries, while Ali Raza, Rizwanullah and Niqab Shafiq claimed three wickets apiece.
Sayyam eventually finished with figures of 1/27, but his contribution to the innings will perhaps be remembered more for the catch that nobody wanted to take.
