Former Indian cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara believes Kolkata Knight Riders could release Aussie all-rounder Cameron Green ahead of the IPL 2027 mini-auction, giving them a sizeable purse to work with.
With teams assessing their squads ahead of the mini-auction, this is the time when teams decide which cricketers to retain and whom to release. Amidst the growing speculation, Pujara shared his views on potential high-profile releases across all teams.
Green was bought for a whopping Rs 25.2 crore at the IPL 2026 mini auction. He scored 322 runs in 14 matches at an average of 32.2 and picked seven wickets in 10 bowling innings, but he was very expensive.
“They can still get him back at the auction,” Pujara said.

Regarding Chennai Super Kings, he felt the decision could come down to choosing between Matt Henry and Matthew Short. Pujara suggested that Royal Challengers Bengaluru are unlikely to release any cricketers as well, given their status as defending champions.
As for Gujarat Titans, Pujara felt the team could face a decision between Rahul Tewatia and Shahrukh Khan, with neither cricketer having lived up to expectations.
For Punjab Kings, Pujara narrowed his choices down to Xavier Bartlett and Lockie Ferguson. He identified two potential release candidates for Sunrisers Hyderabad as well, suggesting that either Jaydev Unadkat or Harshal Patel could be let go.
Pujara felt Delhi Capitals could part ways with either Prithvi Shaw or Karun Nair. Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants might release their Rs 21-crore star, Nicholas Pooran. But if the team decides to retain him, Ayush Badoni could be the one to make way.
Pujara was uncertain about Rajasthan Royals’ potential releases as well, suggesting that the team could part ways with one of its Indian cricketers.
