Olympic bronze medallist Aman Sehrawat produced a solid comeback to beat Japan’s Yamato Ogawa 20-9 in the men’s freestyle 57kg pre-quarterfinals and book his place in the last eight.
Aman, a Hangzhou 2023 bronze medallist, trailed 9-8 at the break after surrendering a lead, but came out firing in the second period to score 12 unanswered points and seal victory by technical superiority.
He will face Kazakhstan’s Nurdanat Aitanov in the quarter-finals.
Golf: Pranavi Urs stays in lead with three holes remaining
Pranavi Urs continues to stay at the top of the women’s golf individual strokeplay competition after 15 holes, holding a one-shot lead at 15-under 253 with just three holes remaining.
China’s Yin Ruoning is second at 14-under 254, while Olympian Shannon Xuan Yin Tan of Singapore is third at 13-under 255.

Overnight leader Pranavi Urs has moved into the sole lead in the final round of the women’s golf individual strokeplay competition after a birdie on the 13th hole.
The Indian golfer is now 15-under 246, one shot ahead of China’s Yin Ruoning, with five holes remaining. Singapore’s Shannon Xuan Yin Tan is third at 12-under 249, three shots off the lead.

Sagar Jaglan made short work of Mongolian Asian Games gold medallist Tumur-Ochir Tulga, winning 8-1 in the men’s freestyle 74kg pre-quarterfinals to book his place in the last eight.
Olympian and Asian Games medallist Deepak Punia also progressed, beating China’s Zhou Junpeng 12-2 in the men’s freestyle 97kg opening round. He led 6-2 after the first period before finishing with a 6-0 second period to win by technical superiority.
Deepak then advanced to the semi-finals after his quarter-final opponent forfeited the bout.
Archery: Kumkum Mohod wins historic individual recurve gold medal after thrilling shoot-off
Kumkum Mohod has just created history by becoming the first Indian woman to win an individual recurve gold medal at the Asian Games, beating South Korea’s Oh Yejin in a thrilling final that went down to a shoot-off.
Kumkum trailed 2-0 after the opening set and 3-1 after two, before fighting back to level the contest at 3-3. Oh Yejin then regained the lead at 5-3 after the fourth set, but the Indian teenager responded with a perfect 30-28 final set to force a shoot-off.
With one arrow each deciding the gold, Oh Yejin shot an 8 before Kumkum produced a 10 to seal a historic victory.
The gold caps a remarkable Asian Games campaign for Kumkum, who had already won women’s recurve team gold and recurve mixed team silver yesterday.
Both finalists in the women’s individual recurve had also already secured an LA 2028 Olympic quota for their respective NOCs by reaching the final.
