The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Sunday approved a six-team domestic competition structure covering all three formats, with the T20 tournament set to be the first event under the new framework in December 2026.
The proposed structure will bring First-Class, List A One-Day and List A T20 cricket under a single competition, with team ownership rights to be offered to established and reputed corporate and financial institutions in Bangladesh for an initial period of three years.
Cricbuzz understands that all six teams have been secured by some of the country’s leading corporate houses.
“The Board agreed in principle to introduce a six-team domestic competition structure covering three formats – First Class (four-day), List A One-Day and List A T20 – under a single competition framework,” the BCB said in a press release.
“Under the proposed structure, team ownership rights will be offered to established and reputed corporate and financial institutions in Bangladesh for an initial period of three years. The Board noted that the T20 competition will be the first event under the new structure, with a tentative window in December 2026,” it added.
The board also approved revised match fees for players participating in domestic competitions following a proposal from the Working Committee.
Under the revised structure, men’s players will receive Tk 1.5 lakh per match in four-day cricket, Tk 1 lakh for One-Day cricket and Tk 80,000 for T20 cricket. Players in the National Cricket League 2nd XI will receive Tk 15,000 per match.
For women’s domestic cricket, the revised match fees have been set at Tk 40,000 for three-day cricket, Tk 30,000 for One-Day cricket and Tk 20,000 for T20 cricket.
The board also approved an increase in the daily allowance for the Bangladesh Under-19 team, doubling it from Tk 10,000 to Tk 20,000.
