Delegation meets leaders from Google, Micron, Perplexity and TiE on third day of US visit ahead of Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2027

Gujarat is positioning itself for new partnerships in artificial intelligence, semiconductors, youth skilling and data infrastructure. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel-led delegation on Wednesday held a series of meetings with major US technology companies and industry groups. The delegation concluded its San Francisco leg of the US visit and departed for Washington, DC.
The delegation visited Micron and Google, held discussions with Perplexity AI CEO Aravind Srinivas and met members of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) as part of its outreach programme to attract investments and strengthen international partnerships ahead of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2027.
At Google, vice president Chandu Thota expressed interest in collaborating on youth skilling, AI training for teachers and students, and agricultural applications using crop, soil and climate data. Talks also covered Google Workspace Sovereign AI and its role in data security.
In a one-on-one meeting, Patel and Srinivas explored the possibility of establishing a Perplexity presence in Gujarat focused on engineering and R&D, alongside options for a data centre or hybrid developer arrangement.
TiE members in Silicon Valley showed interest in healthcare collaborations, including worker training and youth skilling through AI tools.
At Micron, chairman Sanjay Mehrotra thanked the Gujarat government for approving 20 acres of land for its Sanand facility within a day, praising the state’s proactive approach in enabling early commercial production.
Patel recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s inauguration of Micron’s Sanand semiconductor facility in February 2026, noting Sanand and Dholera are emerging as key hubs.
Chief Secretary MK Das and senior officials accompanied Patel during the meetings.
