The model was widely considered a serious rival to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, while US President Donald Trump described it as a “wake up call” stressing its industries needed to be “laser-focused”.
Widely considered one of the most disruptive forces in AI, its achievements have challenged assumptions about the cost and complexity of building state-of-the-art AI systems.
How does DeepSeek-V4-Pro compare?
According to Artificial Analysis, DeepSeek V4 Pro 0813 (Reasoning, Max Effort) is amongst the leading models in intelligence.
The benchmark highlights that the model is somewhat expensive when compared to other open-weight models of similar size. It is priced at US$1.32 per million input tokens. For comparison, another Chinese firm, Z.ai’s pricing for its GLM-5.3-Flash is US$0.15 per one million input tokens.
Compared to top US models, though, it is much cheaper. Prices on Anthropic vary up to 10 times across models, from US$0.77 per one million tokens for Claude 4.5 Haiku to US$7.70 per one million tokens for top-performing models like Claude Fable 5 (with fallback).
In intelligence, it is one of the leading models with a score of 57. The top-performing model on the intelligence index is Claude Fable 5.1 (Adaptive Reasoning, Max Effort, Default Fallback), which scores 66.
The intelligence index composite metric from Artificial Analysis provides a single score for tracking progress toward artificial general intelligence across mathematics, science, coding and reasoning.
