Despite Injury, Penn State’s Micah Parsons Predicted to Have Insane Year

It’s crazy to think that Micah Parsons still might put up the type of numbers that we’re used to seeing from him despite being out for at least the first four games of the 2026 season.

Parsons, undoubtedly one of the best players in the world, is coming back from a tough ACL injury. If he proved one thing during his time at Penn State and early NFL career, it’s that he has the opportunity to disrupt a game at any given moment.

Parsons, who is facing more adversity than ever before, is still expected to be a force to be reckoned with when he returns for the Packers. There’s a lot of hope that he’s going to be the guy that everybody expects him to be, which is what was recently predicted by ESPN.

“The X factor is how much Parsons will play. Clay has Parsons projected to play 619 snaps this season, slightly down from the 669 he played in 14 games in 2025 — which indicates a slight increase in snaps per game if Parsons were to come back from his knee injury in Week 6 and play the rest of the season. Still, it’s incredible that Parsons is projected to miss a third of the season yet still manages to have the second-best forecast. How?

“If we compare him to Myles Garrett, Parsons had a better pass rush win rate in each of the past two seasons, more sacks per game two years ago, is more than three years younger and is on a team that blitzes more. But if there’s one overriding reason Parsons is ranked here, it’s the combination of win rates alongside his previous double-digit sack seasons,” Seth Walder wrote.

Even with the injuries that Parsons has dealt with, there’s still an expectation that he’s going to finish top five in sacks this season.

It won’t be easy, since he won’t have as many games as some other players, but it shows the type of player he is, evident that ESPN’s latest prediction still expects him to have more than 11 sacks.
