The No. 17 SMU Mustangs (1-0) come back on a short week to host the UC Davis Aggies (2-0), ranked sixth in the FCS Coaches Poll, in their home opener in Dallas on Saturday.

SMU outlasted a nearly two-hour delay due to a power outage to beat Florida State 27-24 on Monday night in Tallahassee, Florida. Nick Reed booted a 20-yard field goal with 21 seconds left for the winning score after Kevin Jennings shook off two interceptions to throw for 430 yards and three touchdowns in the Atlantic Coast Conference matchup. Yannick Smith caught five passes for 107 yards and a 79-yard score while Randy Pittman Jr. and Jalen Cooper also caught TD passes. Kendrick Raphael led the ground game with 75 yards on 12 carries.
UC Davis plays its third straight road game after cruising to a 49-17 win last Saturday at San Diego. After trailing 7-0 early, the Aggies put up 28 points in the second quarter as Treynor Cleeland finished 22-of-31 for 294 yards and five touchdowns with an interception. Samuel Gbatu Jr. caught nine balls for 129 yards and two scores while Matteo Perez ran for 123 yards and a touchdown on just nine carries. Jordan Fisher scored two TDs, one on the ground to go with a touchdown reception, and Edward Khutsishvili and Tyler Hennessey also made scoring grabs.
Saturday marks the first meeting between the programs. The Mustangs finished 9-4 last season, including a 6-2 record in the ACC, and beat Arizona in the Holiday Bowl. The Aggies also went 9-4, falling to Illinois State in the FCS playoff quarterfinals.
