Instagram has added an AI-powered song creation option to its direct message (DM) sharing menu, allowing users to generate songs and share them with friends.
The feature, highlighted by creator Jonah Manzano, adds a “create a song” option to the DM interface. Users can enter lyrics and select a music genre before generating an AI-created track.
The feature is similar to Snapchat’s Snap to Song option, which allows paying Snapchat users to turn message text into song lyrics using AI. Instagram’s version appears to give users more flexibility to enter their own lyrics rather than generating a song directly from an existing message.
The feature adds another AI-based functionality to Instagram’s messaging tools, although it is currently focused on generating entertainment content for users to share in DMs.
