Jake Bongiovi shares what fatherhood has taught him. In an interview with L’Beaute Homme, Bongiovi reflected on building a family with Millie Bobby Brown at a relatively young age. He explained that becoming a father completely broadened his understanding of love.
He believed he understood unconditional love before, but parenthood showed him a new side of it.
Bongiovi says there is no better feeling than hearing his child call out for him as he enters a room. He said it is such a simple thing, yet almost impossible to describe.
Fatherhood has also shifted his perspective. Things that once felt incredibly important now seem a little smaller, while moments he might have overlooked have become the ones he treasures most. He called being a parent an extraordinary privilege.
Bongiovi also reflected on what it means to be a good man and father. He said his basic definition of being a good person has not changed much, but his understanding of responsibility has.
In his view, a good father is an anchor for a little person learning to be human, offering comfort, security, and a first introduction to the world. He called that an enormous responsibility, but also an incredible gift.
He also loves watching his children grow and discover things. One day they smile, the next they laugh, and soon they are taking their first steps. He gets to experience each discovery right alongside them.
Most of all, his kids have taught him to slow down. Bongiovi said it is easy to focus on what comes next rather than on what is right in front of you. Some of his most meaningful moments are as simple as playing on the floor or watching his little ones figure something out.
