Justin Baldoni broke his silence about the “It Ends With Us” dispute Wednesday, sharing a short video alongside his wife, Emily, on Instagram in which they said “gratitude” is what kept them going throughout the legal saga.

“Gratitude has saved us,” Justin Baldoni said in the video, which comes a year and a half after Blake Lively accused him of sexual harassment during the production of their film “It Ends With Us,” which Baldoni directed and co-starred in.
Lively also alleged that Baldoni’s production company, Wayfarer Studios, retaliated against her after she complained about allegations of misconduct on the set of the film.
Baldoni vehemently denied Lively’s claims.
U.S. District Judge Lewis J. Liman tossed out most of Lively’s claims against Baldoni earlier this year, including of harassment, defamation and conspiracy. Liman ruled that Lively could not pursue those claims under federal civil rights law in part because she was an independent contractor, not an employee.
The judge let three other claims stand: breach of contract, retaliation and aiding and abetting in retaliation. But the two parties reached a settlement in May before their expected trial date was set to begin.
Lively’s team did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding Wednesday’s video.
Neither Baldoni mentioned Lively, the film or the legal battle in the video, which is almost five minutes long. Instead, they made references to the dispute’s impact on their lives.
“What I will say is that there have been so many painful things that have been spoken to existence … over the last couple years,” Justin Baldoni said. “And that created so much noise, and we didn’t want to add to the noise, so we just wanted to let the justice system run its course.”
“The truth and the facts have spoken for themselves, and here we are,” Emily Baldoni added.
Emily Baldoni said the gratitude the couple has felt “doesn’t negate the injustice and the pain that we have also felt in the last few years.”
Their family “had to wrestle with so many things and try to understand so many things, like how could something like this even happen, let alone disguised as a fight for women,” she said.
Lively went public with her allegations in December 2024, roughly four months after their film premiered in theaters. She first lodged a complaint with the California Civil Rights Department, then filed a federal lawsuit.
The highly publicized case reverberated through Hollywood, exposing text messages between A-listers and uncomfortably candid studio business conversations that normally remain behind closed doors.
Baldoni, who is known for his role on the show “Jane the Virgin,” has largely remained out of the public eye since the dispute, issuing statements through his legal team and retreating from Hollywood life. He now reportedly lives in Nashville with his family.
Before his latest video, Baldoni hadn’t posted on Instagram since June 2025, when he celebrated his anniversary with his wife. He hasn’t announced any new acting or directing projects since the suit was filed.
In January 2025, Baldoni countersued Lively and her husband, “Deadpool” actor Ryan Reynolds, alleging defamation and extortion. He argued that Lively and Reynolds tried to wreck his reputation and accused her of using her grievances as a way to “seize control” of the movie.
Liman dismissed Baldoni’s defamation and extortion lawsuit against Lively last year but said she was allowed to move forward with a request for financial damages under California Civil Code Section 47.1, a law that protects people who report allegations of sexual misconduct from retaliatory defamation claims.
Lively’s legal team said the law requires reimbursement for the defense of the litigation because the legal work on the various claims was intertwined. They argue she is entitled to recover $7,495,526.87 in attorneys’ fees and another $539,514.01 in litigation expenses.
Baldoni and Wayfarer have until July 13 to respond to Lively’s request, Liman said.
In Wednesday’s video, the Baldonis thanked their family, friends and community.
“Thank you does not feel like enough,” Justin Baldoni said. “But we’re here because of so many of you and all of our friends and family. And one thing that we’ve learned is that when God presses the reset button and everything else is stripped away, that that’s when love shows up.”
Emily Baldoni also hinted that there is “so much more to say” but said their focus now is on “healing and hanging out with our kiddos and enjoying life.”
