Hanamkonda: Kakatiya University aims to introduce an AI-enabled curriculum aligned with future needs as part of the reforms initiated in education, research and technology at the varsity, said Vice-Chancellor Prof. K Pratap Reddy.

Speaking at the Research, Education and Advancement Conclave (REACH-2026), organised by the Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) at JNTUH in Hyderabad on Saturday, he said plans were underway to develop KU as a nodal centre for higher education institutions in North Telangana over the next five years.

The move would benefit around 2,000 students. It was aimed at providing students, particularly those from rural and Tier-II regions, with global opportunities in education, research and technology, enabling the university to emerge as an institution of international academic and research standards, he noted.

As part of its internationalisation initiatives, the university plans to send 30 engineering students to Germany and facilitate international academic and research programmes for 40 researchers and faculty members.

KU currently has more than 68 research projects, over 1,000 international publications and more than 100 patents. Efforts were underway to mobilise around Rs 50 crore in research funding through government and industry partnerships, Prof. Pratap Reddy said.

In order to strengthen industry-academia partnerships, MoUs have been signed with organisations such as CYIENT and T-Hub, focusing on skill development, internships, industry projects, research, technology transfer, startups and innovation, he informed.

OSD and Dean, Faculty of Science, Prof. B Venkatram Reddy and UGC Unit Coordinating Officer Prof. R Mallikarjun Reddy accompanied the VC. The programme was attended by IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu, TGCHE Chairman Prof. V Balakista Reddy and others.
