Argentina superstar Lionel Messi set another record in Major League Soccer (MLS) when he won the Golden Boot for the 2026 season on Saturday.
He became the first player to win consecutive golden boots in the league, with 26 goals in 31 matches, while FC Dallas forward Petar Musa followed with 22 goals and Nashville SC’s Sam Surridge recorded 21.
Messi, who joined Miami from Paris Saint-Germain in 2023, has helped the club become a major force in the league, guiding it to four trophies, including its first MLS Cup title last season. He had 29 goals in the 2025 season, becoming the second in league history to score at least 25 times in back-to-back years.
