Meta has reshuffled its top communications leadership, with longtime executive Tucker Bounds taking over the company’s communications and public affairs function from David Ginsberg, according to internal memos cited by Axios.
Ginsberg, who has led the function, will move into a newly created role as Vice President, Product, Insights Innovation. He will work with Chief Data Officer Alex Schultz on applying AI to user research and product development.
Bounds, who has been with Meta in various communications roles, will now oversee the company’s communications and public affairs as it steps up its focus on artificial intelligence while continuing to face regulatory and legal scrutiny around its social media platforms.
Ginsberg described the transition as part of a long-term succession plan, while Bounds credited him with reshaping Meta’s communications and public affairs organisation.
The leadership change comes as AI becomes increasingly central to Meta’s product strategy, including its Muse personal AI agent and the expansion of AI capabilities into its smart glasses. At the same time, the company continues to navigate scrutiny over the impact of Facebook and Instagram on young users.
The reshuffle effectively places Bounds and Ginsberg in roles tied to two of Meta’s key priorities: managing communications around its evolving AI ambitions and bringing AI deeper into its products and research.
