Bangladesh allrounder Mohammed Saifuddin has been ruled out of the ongoing 20th Asian Games due to a right hamstring injury.
“Saifuddin complained of pain in his right hamstring while bowling during the practice session on 19 September. Following a physical examination and MRI, the injury was confirmed,” national team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan said in a statement.
“He will require approximately three weeks of rehabilitation to recover.”
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has notified the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) regarding Shaif Uddin’s unavailability for the Asian Games.
The BCB will name a replacement for the player, subject to approval from the Games authority.
Saifuddin recently played in the A series against South Africa, featuring in one unofficial Test and two one-day matches. He last turned out for the Bangladesh national team during their tour to Zimbabwe in July.
Bangladesh are set to play the fourth quarter-finals in the Asian Games on September 29.
