Cincinnati visits Pittsburgh with Dowdle ruled out and off the Week 3 board, his status beyond this weekend still TBD. He opened last week’s weather-impacted loss in New England in the backfield, and it didn’t matter, which is what I expect going forward from an offense with very little upside. Aaron Rodgers trusts Jaylen Warren as a pass catcher, there is a toe injury in the mix, and his workload already sits below the threshold that matters, so I keep landing on the same question: why hold him?

It didn’t matter, and if I had to bet moving forward, it’s going to continue to not matter.

This offense offers very little upside, and we know that Aaron Rodgers trusts Jaylen Warren as a pass catcher, something that limits the paths to production for Dowdle.
If this was a muddied backfield for a potent offense, I could understand holding out hope, but it’s not. This unit offers very little upside, and with Dowdle now battling a toe injury, he’s not really a threat to make an impact on your team.
So why hold him?
