Selma Blair was arrested following an alleged violent incident on a Delta Air Lines flight over the weekend.
Police responded to a “physically abusive passenger,” identified as the actress, 54, aboard a plane that landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport around 11 p.m. local time Sunday, Oct. 11, The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey confirmed to USA TODAY on Oct. 12.
Blair was arrested and taken to the hospital for evaluation, as was one of two flight attendants who reported injuries, per the Port Authority. The FBI is investigating the incident.
Jill Fritzo, a representative for Blair, told USA TODAY in an Oct. 12 statement: “Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct. Upon landing, she received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition.” It is unclear what the medical emergency was.
According to dispatch audio obtained by TMZ, paramedics were called for one flight attendant and one passenger for injuries including a bloody nose and bite marks, as well as for Blair, who “bashed her head on the bulkhead.”
Law enforcement reportedly told TMZ that Blair allegedly attempted to open the aircraft door in the middle of the flight and later allegedly kicked a Port Authority police officer and assaulted a nurse at the hospital. She has been charged with 2 counts of assault, according to TMZ.
A Delta spokesperson addressed the incident in a statement to USA TODAY: “Delta has zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behavior, as the safety of our customers and crew always comes first.” The spokesperson also said they are aware of reports that Blair attempted to open an aircraft door but are unable to corroborate that information at this time.
USA TODAY reached out to the FBI for comment.

This is the second time Blair has been involved in an incident on an airplane. In 2016, she was taken off a Delta flight on a stretcher at Los Angeles International Airport following a series of disturbing outbursts while in the air, TMZ and People reported at the time.
Blair later apologized in a statement to Vanity Fair, in which she admitted to mixing alcohol with medication.
“I made a big mistake yesterday,” Blair told the magazine. “After a lovely trip with my son and his Dad, I mixed alcohol with medication, and that caused me to black out and led me to say and do things that I deeply regret. My son was with his Dad asleep with his headphones on, so there is that saving grace.”
“I take this very seriously, and I apologize to all of the passengers and crew that I disturbed and am thankful to all of the people who helped me in the aftermath,” she added. “I am a flawed human being who makes mistakes and am filled with shame over this incident. I am truly very sorry.”
