For the first time this season, Arch Manning and Texas will leave Austin as the top-ranked Longhorns aim to stay undefeated on the young season and secure a marquee road win in their SEC opener.
That first road challenge comes in a venue and against a team with deep Manning family ties: Neyland Stadium and Tennessee, the former stomping grounds of his uncle, Peyton Manning.

No. 1 Texas and No. 13 Tennessee — with ESPN’s “College GameDay” on site — are set for a noon ET kickoff on Rocky Top on Saturday, Sept. 22, one of six top-25 ranked matchups on the Week 4 docket.

Manning is off to a fast start to the season, a slight change from a year ago, as he has 661 passing yards and seven touchdowns in three games. However, Saturday’s contest vs. the Vols is an important one for Manning, as he struggled on the road in SEC play last season, going 2-3 and throwing only seven combined touchdowns. A question for the Longhorns defense entering the game is the status of EDGE rusher Colin Simmons.
The Volunteers have jumped out to a 3-0 start under freshman quarterback Faizon Brandon. Manning will have to face a Jim Knowles-called defense on the road that has seen Amare Campbell and Arion Carter combine for 33 total tackles through the first three weeks of the season, though Carter has played in just two games.
