Titans waive two quarterbacks after NFL preseason


The Titans cut their roster to 53 players ahead of Sunday’s NFL deadline at 6 p.m. EDT following the preseason. Former Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker was waived by the Titans.

Tennessee will also begin assembling its practice squad on Monday in preparation for the regular season.

Tennessee (2-1) concluded its NFL preseason on Saturday. Chicago (2-1) defeated the Titans, 24-15, at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee.

Hooker entered the preseason finale in the third quarter against the Bears. He completed 5-of-8 passing attempts for 37 yards. Hooker recorded 29 rushing yards on two attempts, leading the Titans in rushing yards, along with running back D’Ernest Johnson (29).

Quarterback Will Levis was also released by the Titans on Sunday. He started against Chicago and completed 14-of-22 passing attempts for 143 yards, while also totaling one rushing yard on two attempts.

Tennessee will kick off its regular season on Sept. 13 against the Jets. The Titans’ season opener is slated for 1 p.m. EDT at Nissan Stadium.
