West Brom supporters have been advised to expect busy services and road closures around The Hawthorns tonight as Charlton Athletic visit, with a 7.45pm kick-off. Transport for West Midlands said fans should plan ahead and allow extra time.
Buses, trains and trams serving the area are expected to be busier than usual. The ground is served by train and Metro, whose adjacent stations are around a five-minute walk, while the 74 bus between Birmingham city centre and Dudley stops outside and runs roughly every 10 minutes.
From 95 minutes before kick-off, Halfords Lane will be closed to vehicles between Hawthorns Railway Bridge and the Birmingham Road junction. Access exceptions apply for residents and users of club-operated car parks. The inside lane of the westbound Birmingham Road carriageway towards M5 Junction one will also close.
Post-match measures include Halfords Lane remaining shut for up to 40 minutes after the final whistle. In addition, the westbound Birmingham Road towards M5 Junction one will close between Park Lane and Screwfix from 10 minutes before full time for up to 40 minutes.
Supporters using club car parks will not be able to enter or leave from 10 minutes before full time until pedestrian traffic has cleared. Fans are encouraged to check travel information before setting off.
