Nicolas Jackson ‘secretly advising’ Chelsea target after £47m transfer agreement

Chelsea just missed out on the deadline day signing of Lamine Camara and former striker Nicolas Jackson helping him with that disappointment and a decision on his future

Nicolas Jackson has reportedly been urging Lamine Camara to still make a move to the Premier League after his transfer to Chelsea collapsed. The midfielder was set to join the Blues from AS Monaco on deadline day and had even completed a medical, but the plug was pulled on the deal at the eleventh hour.

Monaco had been looking to raise funds late into the summer window but chose to keep Camara when it looked as though Folarina Balogun was on his way to Everton only for that deal to fall through as well.

While the latter has only just returned to action for the French club, Camara has played 90 minutes in every club match so far this season. His professionalism is most likely why he was reintegrated almost immediately with Camara admitting last month he has “turned the page” over his failed transfer.

“There was a possibility I could leave,” he said. “It didn’t go through at the last minute and that’s part of football. I’ve turned the page and am focusing on the season.”

While that may be his public stance, joining Chelsea or one of their rivals is still seemingly on the agenda with the 22-year-old being quietly advised by Jackson to follow him to the Premier League, according to The Sun.

Their report has also claimed that the former Chelsea striker has been helping his Senegal international team-mate get over the disappointment of his Chelsea transfer falling through.

Though he may yet be a Premier League footballer soon, it has also been stated that his representatives are not rushing into anything regarding his future and will assess all the options when the time comes.

Bournemouth’s Alex Scott was the transfer target pursued prior to Camara but Chelsea saw several advances rejected.

The 23-year-old has since made his senior England debut but has been ruled out for the next few months with a quad injury. That may rule out a January transfer but the Cherries are open to doing business if an offer in the region of £100m arrives.

While Chelsea failed to sign Camara or Scott, they did manage to sell Jackson with the 25-year-old completing a permanent move to Aston Villa for £65million.

He has made seven appearances under Unai Emery, scoring three goals with Jackson set for a return to Stamford Bridge just before Christmas. The reverse fixture at Villa Park is takes place towards the end of February.
